Kairos, de beleving van tijd. 'Echte' tijd (Chronos) bestaat slechts als gegeven, daar is elke seconde even lang. Ik zoek de momenten waar tijd verwart, met titels als 'The impossible awareness of falling asleep', 'Losing a dream in waking up' en 'The past is always present'.
Onder de titel 'Momentum Mortis', het moment van sterven, waag ik een poging mijn bijna-dood-ervaring in verf te vangen.
Niets zo ontroerend als de tijd, niets zo onbetrouwbaar als het geheugen, waar de tijd zich ophoopt.

Kairos, the experience of time. ‘Real’ time (Chronos) exists only as a concept, where every second has the same duration. I search for moments when time confuses, with titles such as ‘The impossible awareness of falling asleep’, ‘Losing a dream in waking up’, and ‘The past is always present’.
Under the title ‘Momentum Mortis’, the moment of death, I attempt to capture my own near-death experience in paint.
Nothing is as moving as time, nothing as unreliable as memory, the place where time accumulates.
