According to Scripture, Adam was created from the dust of the ground around 5500 BC. - much to the displeasure of the rest of Homo Sapiens, who by this time were already cultivating wheat and herding goats.
According to our new religion - Science - Mitochondrial Eve is a woman who lived in Africa about 200,000 years ago, from whom all modern humanity inherited mitochondrial DNA. Since mitochondrial DNA is inherited only through the maternal line, all living humans have such DNA from "mitochondrial Eve."
Personally, I prefer Darwin, but when there is turbulence on a plane, he is not the one I pray to.
