Amer Bader

Geboren en getogen in Irak. Bachelor Institute of Fine Arts Bagdad 2001. Woonde en werkte in Jordanië en Syrië. In 2010 op uitnodiging naar Nederland gekomen. Woont en werkt nu in Udenhout (Tilburg)

“My paintings are a reflection of the memories and feelings I experienced during my childhood. My works are inspired by the culture, customs and traditions of Iraq where I grew up. The impressionistic and expressionistic colours and shapes are transformations of my mind and longing for my family. Whereas my earlier paintings focused on the social and human side of life, my more recent works express human suffering, pain of the war and its impact on peoples and countries. Mingling memories of former Iraq with my impressions from current Europe is my creative drivingforce.

My work resonates inner feelings and strong emotions that have exhausted me. From a feeling of being lost, I try to find my way with hope, longing for home, dancing with joy and desire, despite the continuing sounds of war and smells of death”
