Pulchri Studio presenteert Carrying the Songs, een internationale tentoonstelling van nieuwe schilderijen door kunstenaars uit Nederland en Ierland. De tentoonstelling komt tot stand in samenwerking met de ambassade van Ierland in Nederland en Hamilton Gallery in Sligo, Ierland.

De tentoonstelling is geïnspireerd op het gelijknamige gedicht van de Ierse dichteres Moya Cannon. Het gedicht is een ontroerende meditatie over muziek en lied als iets wat mensen meenemen wanneer ze gedwongen worden hun thuis of vaderland te verlaten. Het vormt de artistieke en emotionele kern van de tentoonstelling, en nodigt kunstenaars uit om deze universele ervaring te verbeelden in nieuw werk.

Carrying the Songs toont 200 werken en is een betekenisvolle culturele uitwisseling tussen de artistieke gemeenschappen van Nederland en Ierland. De tentoonstelling brengt stemmen samen uit twee landen, verenigd door een gedeeld thema van verlies, herinnering en veerkracht.

Hamilton Gallery heeft de afgelopen jaren meerdere internationale tentoonstellingen samengesteld in samenwerking met Ierse ambassades, met werk van honderden kunstenaars in steden als Londen, Peking, Dublin, Berlijn en New York. In februari 2025 was Bloodroot, een tentoonstelling met nieuwe schilderijen van 125 Ierse vrouwelijke kunstenaars, te zien bij Pulchri Studio.

Pulchri Studio presents Carrying the Songs, an international exhibition of new paintings by artists from the Netherlands and Ireland, developed in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in the Netherlands and Hamilton Gallery in Sligo, Ireland.

The exhibition is inspired by the poem of the same name by Irish poet Moya Cannon. A prescient meditation on music and song as among the few things people carry with them when forced to flee their homes or leave their native country, the poem forms the artistic and emotional heart of the exhibition, inviting artists to give visual form to this universal human experience.

Carrying the Songs brings together 200 works and marks a significant cultural exchange between the artistic communities of the Netherlands and Ireland, uniting voices from two countries around a shared theme of loss, memory and resilience.

Hamilton Gallery has curated numerous international exhibitions in collaboration with Irish embassies in recent years, showing work by hundreds of artists across London, Beijing, Dublin, Berlin and New York. In February 2025, Bloodroot, featuring new paintings by 125 Irish women artists, was shown at Pulchri Studio.
